Setting market trends, John Keells Leisure Inbound Sector continues to lead with innovative projects. One such initiative is the Professional Chauffeur Guide Training Program, aimed at introducing well-educated and skilled chauffeur guides to the industry.
This year’s program ran from May 4 to September 8, offering over 50 hours of training. Participants received insights into the latest tourism industry trends, both locally and globally, through expert-led sessions. The program also included a special one-day lecture at Sabaragamuwa University, where trainees were awarded certificates for their participation.
In addition to classroom sessions, the program emphasized practical experience with a Colombo city tour and two familiarization tours, one to the Cultural Triangle and the other to the island’s southern and deep southern regions.
On September 29, 2024, 16 trainees successfully graduated from the program. This year’s batch is particularly notable as it includes the company’s first three female trainees, one of whom is fluent in Italian. These new guides are now ready to start their careers in the tourism industry, guiding clients from around the world in exploring Sri Lanka!
